Hello, I'm Grace
Project manager. Parent. An expat living in London, United Kingdom.
A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary contract gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to United Kingdom wasn’t part of the long-term plan. Like many expat relocations, it began as a work opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The first months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, and shifting expectations. Everyday tasks felt more intricate than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of hands-on learning. Yet gradually, routines started to take shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt stable.
Why I Built Drift Meadow Quill
Most information online shifted between corporate relocation guidance or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site exists to bridge that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in United Kingdom.
Purpose of This Site (What It Covers and What It Doesn’t)
This site is:
- Hands-on insights from life in United Kingdom
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated when there is a real change
This site is not:
- An official tourism resource
- A sponsored review site
- Just another generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our stay in United Kingdom goes on, as does the learning journey. As long as the information remains helpful, I will continue recording what we learn.
If you have questions about family life in London or anywhere in United Kingdom, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Grace
